Supporting Fully Competitive Wholesale Energy and Capacity Markets within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, Inc. (MISO) region.
The Coalition of Midwest Power Producers or COMPP is a non-profit trade association where member companies work together on a cooperative basis to maintain and develop independent, transparent, non-discriminatory, robust, and fully competitive wholesale energy, capacity and ancillary service markets within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, Inc. (MISO) region. COMPP members will strive towards the goal of creating a “level playing field” in the further development and evolution of MISO’s market design working within the open stakeholder process where MISO operates as the nation’s first FERC approved Regional Transmission Organization managing the reliable supply and transmission of power within a 15 state region ranging from the Gulf of Mexico to the Canadian province of Manitoba. On a MISO region wide basis, COMPP members own and operate over 6,700 megawatts of generation assets using a variety of fuel types and technologies including coal, natural gas, hydro, wind, solar and storage facilities. COMPP member companies also have numerous new resource generation interconnection projects in the queue and strive to eliminate identified process inefficiencies, market deficiencies and the prioritization of high impact market enhancements that will increase value for merchant generator business model as a whole.
